Review of the Russian Federation Transport Activities for the First Quarter of 2019

According to the data of the Federal Custom Service, in the 1st quarter of 2019 Russian transport providers loading capacity decreased by 5.1%. All types of Russian transport show negative trend. The biggest decrease was recorded with maritime and air freights.

The aggregate data for all types of Russian transport for the first 3 (three) month of 2019 is as follows

Vehicle, Motor Road Infrastructure

  • Europe – West China Project implementation including construction of the bridge across the Volga River to detour Tolliatti
  • Reconstruction of more than 1.9 thousand km of federal roads from the Black Sea ports to North-West borders of the country to Finland border
  • Caucuses and Siberia roads reconstruction
  • Construction of 14 new city detours (Ryazan, Volgograd, Khasavyurt , etc.) to improve ecology of the these regions

Railway Roads Infrastructure

  • Up to 7 days decrease of container delivery time from the Far East to western borders of Russia
  • Increase BAM and Transsib throughput capacity

Sea and River Transport Infrastructure

  • Northern Sea Route Project improvement
  • Increase of the throughput capacity of Russian Far East basin sea ports, Taman and Novorossiyisk southern terminals, port of Ust-Luga and Murmansk transport hub.


Air Infrastructure

  • Expansion of regular regional flight network without connecting in Moscow
  • Re-construction of regional airports (Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Mineralniye Vody)
