World Trends of Logistics Industry

For become more effective every company looking for ways to reduce costs and increased productivity. Logistics industry is in the process of transformation, as evidenced by the widespread consolidations, mergers, acquisitions and restructures.

Among the last:

  • Merges of Unied States shipping lines Crowley with Crowley Logistics;
  • Acquisitions by shipping lines MSC of Germany transport company Atlantic Forwarding to the previously purchased Chinese Searunner Shipping;
  • Reorganization of AP Moller-Maersk  group into a «global integrator in the container logistics industry»,as well as the beginning of the introduction of a new digital platform “Digital Damco”, that involving all companys product;
  • Formed by EV Cargo largest in UK logistics group, which includes 6 logistics operators, specializing in different directions of logistic.

Container lines logistics network and digital solutions investment suggests that the industry is consolidated and digitized.

It is worth noting that trend towards to universal combination began as early as 2014, when the strategic merger of the three largest container operators: Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and CMA CGM was planned in the international shipping services – alliance P3, which was not undertaken owing to rejection by the Chineese control authority. But the idea of cooperation was further developed and today 90% from all container shipping business is divided among 3 alliances: 2M, Ocean Alliance, The ALLIANCE, that include only 10 from 67 existing shipping companies.
